Privacy Policy
Effective November 1, 2026
Daily Torah Verse shows you one verse a day from the weekly Torah portion. We built it to collect as little as possible. There are no ads, no analytics, and no tracking, and we never sell your information.
Your account
The app creates an anonymous account when you first open it. It has a random ID and no name, email address, or phone number. We use it only to keep your streak and settings safe if the app is reinstalled or updated.
What we store
On our servers, linked to your anonymous ID, we keep:
- Your settings: Hebrew and/or English, how God's name is shown, your reminder time, Shabbat mode, whether you follow the Israel reading schedule, your time zone, and the name of the city you chose (for example "Brooklyn"). We do not store your coordinates.
- Your activity: the dates you opened the day's verse and which verse it was, the days you tapped "Thank you," and any streak days you restored.
We use this only to run the app: to show your streak and keep your settings. We don't use it for advertising or profiling, and we don't share it except with the service providers below.
Location
Location is optional. If you allow it, the app reads your approximate position on your phone to work out Shabbat and holiday times. Your phone's maps service (Apple) turns it into a city name. To get candle-lighting and havdalah times, the app sends coordinates rounded to about 1 km to Hebcal.com. If you search for a city instead, your search text is sent to Hebcal. Your coordinates are never stored on our servers.
Reminders
Daily reminders are scheduled on your phone. We don't run a push notification server and don't collect a device token.
Service providers
- Supabase hosts our database and the anonymous accounts.
- Hebcal.com provides the weekly portion, Hebrew dates, and Shabbat times. It receives the requests described above. See Hebcal's privacy policy.
- Apple delivers the app and turns a location into a city name. If you agreed to share crash reports with developers, Apple may send us anonymous crash data.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while you use the app. To delete it, tap Delete my data on the app's About screen (Settings → About), or email us at the address below with the support code shown there. We'll delete your account and everything linked to it within 30 days. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your phone. Data left on our servers is tied only to a random ID that we can't link back to you.
Children
Daily Torah Verse is for a general audience. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the app asks for no name or contact details, it doesn't collect that kind of information from anyone.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. Database rules let each account read and change only its own data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change matters, for example if we start collecting something new, we'll tell you in the app first.
